The Connection Between MS and Autism
Does your child have autism? Do you have Multiple Sclerosis?
No one talks about it, but there seems to be a link, a link between parents of children with autism being diagnosed with MS. Why isn't there anyone who is looking into this? Why can’t we find information about the link between the two anywhere?
The CDC does not require doctors to report diagnosed cases of MS, however there is a growing link between receiving this diagnosis and having a child with autism.
As parents, when our child was diagnosed with autism, should we have been at least warned that we are at higher risk for MS or another autoimmune disorder? With autism diagnosed in 1 out of 91 children shouldn't this be a concern.
As adults when diagnosed with MS should we be warned that our children could be "at risk" for developing autism? Should we be told to watch for key developmental signs or red flags?
Can the treatment for MS, which treats an overactive immune system help our children with autism? Many doctors do believe autism is related to an overactive immune system.
